S'mores Anyone?

Our DI team had a little Friday night fun to celebrate a great season.
The movie, Hugo, was kind of slow.  The book is better.
The s'more making, however, was da bomb!
Have you ever tried a homemade vanilla marshmallow,
roasted over an open flame till charred and gooey,
placed on top of a melting peanut butter cup and
wedged between two freshly baked chocolate chip cookies?  Have you?
You must.
{assorted chocolates all from Trader Joes}

  2. So you didn't freeze for your outdoor movie? We looove s'mores (so much so we toast the marshmallows over the stovetop!) and yours look divine - especially with homemade marshmallows! But what I really want to know is..where did you get the beautiful wicker tray in the top few photos??

  4. Looks like the start of a great weekend! I'm so glad to see that Kelly has a blog now :). By the way, I saw your comment about her setting up comments to reply back to the person who left it......if someone has a Wordpress site, it doesn't allow this. Mine is Wordpress and as much as I love WP I don't like that detail because how many people really go back and read to see if someone has followed up. Anyway.......saw in your comments that you referenced Nell Hills. Have you been to her store?! Oh. my. My mom and I went to her Atchinson store a few years back and stayed overnight at a local b&b. You must put it on your list of places to visit. It's right up your alley. Ok, I should've just emailed you all of this b/c this is the longest comment ever.

  5. I love your outdoor movie tradition! We may have to try that! Very, very cute party for the kids...love it! Elizabeth is right about Nell Hills. Her Atchison stores (there is one for home decor accessories and one for larger furniture and antiques) are about an hour from us, but she opened a new store in Kansas City a few years ago. She and her staff have beautiful and creative ideas for home decor, but one of my favorite things to look at are her paint colors. Her stores are arranged like rooms in a house (the store in KC has working fireplaces) and each room is painted in one of her colors, and the colors are named above the doorways...great way to find out which colors you love by seeing them in an entire room vs. a tiny paint chip! And Mary Carol, the proprietor who started Nell Hills (named for her pioneer grandmother) is usually at one of the stores and is a delightful and lovely woman. She has published several books, which I have happily been given as Mother's Day gifts! She also lives in a 100+ year old Italianate house on an old brick street in Atchison which she opens to the public 2-3 times per year. Definitely a place to put on your list should you find yourself in KC! =)
