Farmhouse Table Love

I have been on the lookout for a replacement for
our dining room table for some time.
I wanted an antique farm table, preferably pine, with great chunky legs.

Earlier this week, I saw a 19th century
New England harvest table up for auction at an estate sale.
Pine top, drop leaves, gorgeous turned maple legs, with drawers at each end,
full of character with gouges and wear, yet still in really good condition.
I am supposed to be working on plans for our kitchen,
saving my pennies for a fancy stove,
but I had to at least try for the table.
I did and I won! {and didn't break the bank}
We pick it up tomorrow!
And just in time.
We are celebrating my Mum's birthday on Saturday.
What a great first memory to make around our new table.
Oh, the celebrations, meals, and conversations that table has seen.
That's what I love most about antiques.  The secret history they hold.
I'll share a picture {or two} next week!
Have a lovely weekend!

  1. So exciting!! Can't wait to see the table and your new kitchen unfold. I know it's going to be fab! xo

  2. Congratulations-sounds like a beautiful table and will be lovely in your dining room. Enjoy your mother's birthday party!

  3. Sounds perfect! Can't wait to see it! I think you may have been around for my table drama. I let it play out on my blog and finally, a sweet blog reader who was also a friend hooked me up. I called her my table angel! Finding the perfect table is HARD!

  4. FUN!!! I love farm tables esp pine! I hope you'll share pics soon!!! Happy (almost) weekend!

  5. Sounds perfect! So glad you won! Can't wait to see it!

  6. I love farmhouse tables! You sound like my mom trying to find "the one". After years of looking, she finally did :) Can't wait to see pics. Hope you have a lovely celebration!

  7. How exciting! I am always searching for the perfect table too. It's also my mom's birthday too this week. Hope your Mom has a wonderful day. I look forward to seeing what you do with your kitchen.

  8. Lucky Girl! It will be so fun to see it. Have fun celebrating yours Mums birthday.

  9. Tessa, that is so exciting!!! I can't wait to see pics, I know it will be just gorgeous!!!

  10. Can't wait to see your table. When I get my house my kitchen and dining room are going to probably be half the square footage of my house so I can get a farmhouse table. My grandmothers (which I wish I could have) sat 23 people. She had every shape and color chair imaginable around that table at any given time. I so miss Grammy.

  11. How exciting...can't wait to see it in your diningroom! Enjoy your celebration with your mom!

  12. I had a harder time with the chairs than I did the table!! I had a chairless table for over a year.
    Enjoy your new purchase.

  13. I LOVE farmhouse tables! So exciting!

  14. I have chunky legs. Take me!

No, really, I am happy for you - this is cause for celebration. I esp adore that first image. And that mural on the wall. Sigh...

  15. How fun! That sounds exactly like the table I want to replace my garage sale kitchen table with. Can't wait to see the table and your new kitchen! Have a great day with your family on your Mum's birthday! Thanks for stopping by last night and your sweet comments! BTW, I would gladly share my English Home mag with you, but fair warning, I would be so tempted to hand you a scraper and solicit your help with taking up my seriously glued down vinyl flooring...LOL! Have a fun weekend! Michelle

  16. Post lots of pics! Can't wait!
