A New Milestone...

My baby started preschool today...
He was so proud to put his backpack on this morning, 20 minutes before it was time to leave.
He kept asking Andrew if he was ready for school.
He has spent every day with me since he was born.
On one hand I'm not really ready to share him, but on the other
I'm so excited for him and this big new step in his little life.
I pray that school is a happy place for him,
that he finds kind playmates,
and gets plenty of hugs from his teachers.

Selfishly, I can't wait for my kitchen walls to fill up with preschool art again.
No art makes me quite as happy as preschool art.

My little Charlie, you are so sweet!
I'll miss you for the few hours a week you are away,
but don't worry, we'll still have plenty of fun together too!
And if you ever wake up and it happens to be a school day
and you decide you'd rather spend the morning
in your jammies and cuddle with me,
well, shhh, don't tell your teachers,
but I'll be more than happy to oblige.

  1. tessa our post are all most the same our Will started pre school this week and we were so worried because he too had never left my wifes side but he loves it yay!!!!! glad you and your family are good I was wondering if you were MIA haha take care

  2. that was soooo sweet. Having a baby boy myself now, it kills me to think about him going to preschool! sniff.....

p.s, love his boden outfit :)

  3. He looks so sweet and excited. I so remember that feeling of wanting them to take their next step - but not wanting it at the same time. I am still the same ha - especially since my twins went into 9th grade.

His backpack is soooooooooo cute!! I hope it all went well, and that he loved his teacher and classmates.

  4. Ahhh he looks so sweet! Pre-school is the greatest gift you can give a child! You are doing the right thing! He's a big boy now... I love it! You're such a good mom... {I don't think mom's ready, lol!}

P.S. I have a lunch pail & backpack obsession... I saw that one at Nordstrom’s & lovvvvvvvvvvved it! Too cute! ;)

  5. How adorable is he all ready for preschool?! I love the picture of him looking back on the stairs. Such a sweet post Tessa.

  6. How sweet! I know the pit in your stomach feeling when the second boy goes to school. You're proud of them, but at the same time marveling at how quickly the years go. He is precious.

  7. What a precious little face. And what a big day. I hope he came skipping home, singing songs, and talking about his new friends. And I hope you didn't think about him 10,000 times during the day...but I bet you did. Love these little people!

  8. My kids are teens now, but I remember the mix of sadness and excitement that I had when I sent each of them off to pre-school like it was yesterday. He;s adorable!

    Take care,

  10. what a cutie!!! hope he has a great first week.....and that you do, too!

  11. Ah, what a cutie! I'm sure he will thrive in preschool, but I know what it's like for you. Hard to let them go, yet wanting them to make THE big step. I love preschool art, too. We have some of the kids artwork framed and hanging in our house. (Love his outfit, too!)

  12. He will have SO much fun in preschool...can't wait to read all about his experiences!

  13. He is so adorable. I wish mine could be little again - Noah is still super sweet so that helps! Josh is sweet too, he is just bigger than me - it happens so quick! Hope all is well and that you are enjoying this crisp weather!
