Vegas

We are back!
And it was fab-u-lous!
Anyone who has been reading this blog for any length of time,
knows I am MUCH more of a cottage-by-the-beach-vacation kind of girl.
I am not, and have never been, a party girl.
Not glitzy, glam, or swanky either.
And I don't gamble.
(I sound like LOADS of fun, huh?! :))
So, when Jimmy suggested a little getaway to Vegas I was skeptical.

However, the idea of 3 days, just the two of us,
with loads of sunshine,  in upscale accommodations, was too good to pass up.
It was our first time away from both children since Charlie was born.
And we really needed it.
We stayed at the Cosmopolitan.
Our suite was HUGE.
It had a wrap around balcony with pretty views day and night.
It was definitely stocked for a par-tay.
And true to it's name, had a very NYC kind of vibe.
A bit like the W in NYC but 200x the size and a little more glam.
The bed was divine.  Like sleeping in a cloud.
With no 5:00 AM wake up call from Charlie.
The kitchen was stocked with Vegas style accouterments.
(Did you know that if you remove them for more than 30 seconds,
to arrange them for a picture, they think you used them and will charge you??!!
A little embarrassing having to explain that one!)
We started each morning with room service.
Egg white frittata with spinach, asparagus and tomato.

Spent leisurely time pool side.
Then continued to eat REALLY good food.
I want to make this fig, prosciutto, and Gorgonzola flatbread from Olive's at the Bellagio.
My consummate travel planner.  Hard at work.
One evening we went to see Cirque du Soleil's O and it was breath taking.
This one incorporated water and diving along with the acrobatics.
I held my breath a few times watching them fly through the air.
I am extremely happy my children show no signs of becoming gymnasts, acrobats,
or anything that requires swinging or jumping from high places
with almost zero margin for error.  My heart could not take it!
More good food....
Artichoke and walnut filled crepes with a tomato coulis,
the Eiffel Tower restaurant in the Paris hotel.
On our third day I made an attempt to get a picture of the two of us.
Pretty hotels, great food, and shows aside,
this weekend was about spending time with my love.
Somewhere between his demanding work schedule
and all the daily chaos of raising children you lose a bit
of each other.  Our date nights all too often become
take-out, a bottle of wine, and a movie - which I love,
but sometimes you need to get away.
You need to laugh together, have uninterrupted conversations,
be away from schedules and routines and just enjoy each other.
And that's exactly what we did.

Jimmy you are, and have always been, my favorite person in the world.
Thank you for a wonderful trip!!

All my love always,
Tess

  1. I love Vegas! I have been called, more than once, a prude. But Vegas is more than the gambling and partying. We stayed in a suite at the Bellagio. It was amazing! We are thinking of going back in September. This post makes me really want to go. I hope you enjoyed at least a few hours at the spa!

Glad you had fun. Hubby and I need some alone time, too. Three kids and two jobs are a lot to juggle. Have a fabulous week!

  5. Hi Claudia! The second picture is the lobby of our hotel. I should have explained that! The images changed all day long. My favorite were the botanicals that were showing when I arrived, seen in the third picture! :)

  7. That sounds heavenly. Craig and I have not been away together, alone for a weekend, since the girls were born. Sometimes, when my parents are visiting, we'll turn a date night into an impromptu stay at the Ritz for the night, but that is all. It's so worth it. SO glad you had an amazing time together. xo
