Heatwave, ebay, Easy Indian

How's that for a title?!  It is July and the weather is STEAMY!  Andrew's spending his days at a LEGO Camp this week in a nice cool building.  While he's there, Charlie and I are hanging out at my parents.  A lot of time was spent with the water hose today.

I've been doing some ebay shopping in the comfort of an air conditioned house while Charlie naps.  I was bummed to lose a bid earlier this week on a pair of antique frames that would have been perfect in our dining room.  But today. TODAY.  I won a painting.  Here were some of my favorites.  The one I won will be going over the fireplace in our living room.  You'll have to wait and see which one it is....

And with all this hot weather, the last thing I want to do is spend a great deal of time in the kitchen.  I'd be content with salads and chickpeas for dinner every night, but my growing boys need something a little more substantial.  I tried this out the other day from Williams-Sonoma.

Basically, dice and saute chicken in a large skillet, then add jar of sauce and cook for about 20 more minutes and serve over rice. It was good,  really good , as in almost as good as when I make it homemade, and so ridiculously easy.  It's not too spicy either.  I served it along with a little yogurt sauce (plain yogurt with  kosher salt, fresh ground black pepper, diced cucumber and green onions). Big hit with Charlie, not so much with Andrew (my picky eater).

  2. Soooo happy that Holly introduced me to your lovely blog. I am smitten with your painting. I would like to scour Ebay for something similar. What criteria did you enter? Would you recommend your Ebay seller? Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks, Martha

  3. Hi Martha,

I couldn't find an email for you, so I do hope you check back...Let's see...yes, I do use specific search criteria. Here is how my saved search reads: Paintings, Paintings, Date of Creation:Pre-1800, 1800-1899, 1900-1949, 1950-1969, Original/Reproduction:Original, Medium:Oil, Price Range:$0.00 - $200.00

This seller was ok to work with. Everything arrived fine but it took much longer than expected. It was coming from Denmark and was held up in NYC in customs. I don't think it was a great deal after shipping and reframing were factored in, but I adore the painting and sometimes shopping from my computer is easier with two young children to tend to at home. I've found other paintings that my Mum has bid on and won using the same search criteria and she has had excellent experiences with US sellers. Hope that help! So nice to "meet" you!
